Karen wins four ribbons at the Nassawango Quilt Show in Snow Hill, MD
It was quite a thrill to see three of my newest quilts wearing ribbons at this biennial show. It was a beautiful weekend on the Eastern Shore of Maryland that provided blue skies and sunny weather for this outdoor show. I was honored to display my quilts alongside so many lovely creations. Here are my ribbon-winning quilts.

Listen to the Ancients
I used a kaleidoscope technique to create this colorful collection of southwest fabrics. The quilting is done based on petroglyph images I saw on my NM trip in 2008. It is constructed of all cotton fabrics and measures 54" x 54". It won first prize for wall hangings.

Logs Into Crosses
This is a wonky version of a log cabin design as featured in Karen Eckmeier's book, Layered Waves. I used my own hand dyed fabrics for everything but the border. I love the flow and movement of the curved pieces. It meaures 44" x 46" and won two prizes -- first place for home machine quilting and second place for wall hangings.

Confetti Canvas
This original design began as a block of the month quilt for my friends in Pocomoke City. I saw it as a blank canvas built of twelve blocks that could be decorated in many ways. I chose geometric shapes and machine appliqued them to the completed top. It measures 54" x 70". It received a second place ribbon for applique.
